In Between Two Fires, painting stages a continuous tension between opposing forces, without ever arriving at true reconciliation.

The composition unfolds through energetic fields and gestures in which vivid reds, deep blues, blacks and luminous openings confront and cross one another. The large white areas do not function as a simple background: they interrupt the flow, divide the space and create active voids that heighten the tension between the chromatic centres.

On one side, red brings heat, urgency and friction; on the other, blue introduces depth and a more inward vibration. Black cuts through and consolidates, while lighter marks and transparent passages relieve the pictorial mass without neutralising it. Everything in the work seems to move within a space of controlled collision.

Between Two Fires speaks precisely about this suspended condition: existing in between, between different impulses, between attraction and resistance, between momentum and restraint.

It does not describe a choice already made. It captures the intensity of what happens before.
