GROUND STATE
OP0031 — GROUND STATE
70 × 100 cm | 2026
Ground State is a contemporary abstract figurative painting. Measuring 70 × 100 cm, the work presents a crouched human figure isolated against an intense red field.
Built through layered blues, turquoise, violets and gestural marks, the body shifts between recognisable anatomy and painterly abstraction. The absence of facial features removes individual identity and directs attention toward posture, physical tension and presence.
The crouched position creates an ambiguous psychological state: the figure appears vulnerable and exposed, yet simultaneously charged with potential energy. Rather than representing collapse, Ground State explores the moment in which stillness and readiness coexist.
The contrast between the saturated red background and the cooler body intensifies this tension, turning the figure into a concentrated field of physical and emotional force.
